Success at Serengeti Energy is measured not just financially, but by the positive impact on the communities that host the company's renewable energy power projects. The company's operational power plants have connected over 2 million homes to electricity, generated over USD 70M in tax income for local governments, and restored 900+ hectares of land by planting 70,000 trees. The projects annually avoid over 95,000 tons of CO2, playing a crucial role in climate stability. Operating nine power plants across five countries with a total capacity of 73.9MW, Serengeti Energy is committed to supporting sustainable economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa.

Serengeti Energy Brand Rollout Across SSA

After acquisition of REH by rAREH in 2021, the company relaunched with the new brand name Serengeti Energy. Since joining in 2021 when the continent reopened post COVID19, the company brand rollout began I lead the processes in progress in Malawi, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Uganda and  South Africa.

Projects:

-Rollout of the new brand VI, brand persona and brand voice internally with staff and externally with stakeholders and media.

Rebranding all offices and power plants

-Established Ecosystems/Customer Service Strategies for all steakholder relations across SSA

-Creation of the company blog to allow staff expression in line with the new corporate culture.

Employee engagement events & stakeholder relationship management events.

CSR involvement with local communities where we have presence to ensure there is zero ham to livelihoods and ensure continued community buy-in from the locals.

Spearheading the office remodeling to effect savings on GHG emissions, energy consumption and overall budget objectives.

Communication strategy rollout to grow Serengeti Energy SOV through media publicity, storytelling and stakeholder engaement.

SGA partnership with AxxonSoft

The partnership between East Africa's largest smart security player, SGA Security and Russian based AxxonSoft for the provision of intelligent security management solutions with cutting-edge technology will revolutionalize security management in the region.

Through the partnership, SGA will be able to offer the market state of the art intelligent video management software that maximizes safety through innovative technology.

SGA will also be the exclusive distribution partner of AxxonSoft solutions in Uganda and Tanzania and the prime distributor in Kenya.

AxxonSoft is a global leader of smart integrated security and video surveillance systems. The company has a presence in 50 countries across the world.

TRACE and Airtel Kenya had Africa's first mobile song competition where contestants could win simply by recording their song on a phone call. The competition allowed people access to a great music career opportunity without having to stand in big long queues. All participants had to do was Call, Sing and Win a chance to become the next big music star in their country and possibly across Africa and the world. The project ran in 13 African countries in 2 stages:

The selection of the Kenyan Representative would win a cash prize of 1.5 million and stand a chance to win the Pan African Prize.The Kenyan Representative will then attend a televised Pan-African Grand Final where they will stand a chance to win a trip to the USA to be mentored by megastar Akon, a professional music video, a record deal with Universal music and 30 000 Euros cash.

Airtel TRACE Music Star Season I & II

unlimiNET was conceptualized and developed after multiple consumer focus groups & discussions brought to light a key consumer insight around the 'fear to click'​ (that is, the fear that email attachments, social media images & videos will deplete all your data bundles). The Opportunity for AIrtel Kenya: create a value proposition that allows consumers to explore the digital space without fear or inhibitions. Thus the result: unlimiNET- unlimited internet.

Within 7 days post-launch, we had achieved:
- 4 days with unlimiNET as an nationwide trending topic
- customer subscriptions surpassed the business case projections
- Projected business case revenue projections achieved
- Positive uptake of all other data products within the Airtel Kenya offering
- 78.1 million impressions on our banner ads
- Over 200% increase in positive/curious consumer queries on the product on digital

4 months down the line, we continued to see gains on
- positive impact on doubling subscribed consumers' ARPU across all consumer segments
- rated as the most innovative data proposition amongst a total of 35K consumer survey

Airtel unlimiNET product launch

Exclusive Card Issuing and Merchant Acquiring Partnership in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

Equity Bank and American Express entered into a partnership agreement, through which Equity Bank acted as the exclusive issuer of American Express Card products in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. As part of this agreement, Equity Bank was also the exclusive partner in merchant acquisition on to the American Express network in these countries.

As the communications lead my responsibilities involved writing press releases, conceptualizing the launch event strategy and team lead for consumer education and advertising campaigns and marketing support for the business development teams.

Wings To Fly Program

Equity Group Foundation and The MasterCard Foundation 'Wings To Fly' Partnership is one of The Largest Secondary Education Scholarship Program in Kenya in a global initiative to educate and develop next-generation leaders who will contribute to social and economic progress. The Program enables over 2000 young scholars each year; from economically disadvantaged communities to complete quality secondary and university education, and make successful transitions to further education or to the workforce in their home countries. Through comprehensive support, Scholars receive learning opportunities that equip them with knowledge, skills, and values needed to succeed in the economy, and make positive impacts in their communities
