SERENGETI ENERGY

GROUP COMMUNICATIONS, EVENTS & ADMINISTRATION MANAGER 

Worked in the Group HQ office in the Corporate services department handling corporate services, corporate communications, impact communications, sustainability, marketing and brand strategy & implementation, corporate events, ecosystems management (CX), facilities management and office administration for sub-Saharan Africa.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Plan and implement communications & marketing strategies for Serengeti’s entities.

-Manage country teams to ensure brand consistency, boost media engagement through effective PR, and spearhead campaigns to enhance visibility of the Serengeti Energy brand in all countries.

-Support communications needs for the CEO, ExCo and board by developing presentations, talking points for interviews and editorials in line with company objectives.

-Develop departmental reports, ToRs, budgets, and track performance through periodic communication audits.

-Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to ESG and impact communications, ecosystems development and management and provide guidance and recommendations to senior management on emerging issues.

-Direct the company brand positioning to elevate Serengeti as the industry leader and attract investors and donors for grant financing and capital raise.

-Market research across sub-Saharan Africa to inform green investment proposal conceptualization and execution to meet company sustainability, development and ESG requirements in line with global investment guidelines.

-Departmental collaboration to ensure the company meets its SDGs through responsible investing in climate finance and impact related initiatives. Lead the impact and sustainability reporting to partners and investors.

-Develop effective communication procedures and policies. Liaise with interdepartmental staff and management and enlist procedures to tackle them.

-Ecosystems management team lead for all customers, steakholders and partners on all inbound and outbound communications

-Draft press releases, speeches and other business correspondences including articles, notices, web content and social media. Editorial lead for articles, scripts for videos, blogs etc.

-Represent company in print and electronic and social media, supervise development of company newsletters and magazines. 

-Strategic conceptualization and management of company events that fit company objectives in line with financial budgets and time requirements in all SSA regions.

-Support health and safety initiatives to ensure our facility is compliant with all regulations and all permits and licenses are up to date

-Manage all contractors and ensure cost effective, timely and technically correct management of office facilities and procurement processes.

ACHIEVEMENTS

-Co-ordinated the scripting, execution and roll out of Serengeti Energy's first documentary highlighting impact stories of project affected persons in Western Uganda where 3 of the company's renewable energy projects are located: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6Fm5owxxzU

-Successful registration of Nkhotakota Solar PV plant in Malawi into VERRA Registry for future offsetting of Carbon credits.

-Successful offsetting over 100,000 tons of avoided CO2 through sale of Carbon Credits in Uganda in 2023.

-Successful redesign and roll out of the new company website, social assets, corporate communication material and new Brand VI incorporation across SSA: www.serengeti.energy

-Spearheaded the definition and incorporation of the new vision, mission and core values and collaborating with HR to define and immerse staff into the new corporate culture though internal communication strategies and employee engagement events with the aim to grow and keep eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score) high.

-Team lead for successful ecosystems management (CX) & external corporate events that have grown Serengeti Energy's share of voice across SSA and consistent media coverage.

SGA SECURITY

GROUP MANAGER, BRAND & PR

Worked in the regional ExCo office handling Marketing and Corporate Communications strategies, CSR, Media management, Event management activities and sponsorships, U&R targets & overall brand management in liaison with the commercial and Customer Care teams in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania reporting to the Group CEO.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Develop and implement 360° brand, digital, media, marketing and communication campaigns in line with the business strategy.

-Conduct and analyze industry trends, competitor analysis, consumer research and VOC based on business knowledge gaps to map communication objectives.

-Website content creation and management.

-Support and advise Country Directors and senior management with regard to corporate communication topics and marketing collateral.

-Prepare teams for interviews, including media training and advise for internal and external speeches.

-Work with internal teams and provide end to end strategy for new product development, marketing, rollout and feedback.

-Build relationships with key stakeholders, government bodies, partners, influencers and creative agencies.

-Manage marketing and communications budgets.

-Report and analyze campaign successes, insights, PR efforts and digital marketing and their impact on customer acquisition and retention.

 

ACHIEVEMENTS

-Successfully led the face lift of the SGA brand resulting in increased TOMA and Bonding and growth in new customer acquisition in Kenya, Uganda & Tanzania

-Design and roll out of the new SGA website and social assets including content creation, management and updates; www.sgasecurity.com

-Disrupted the security industry by redirecting the focus from mainly manning to technology and customer centric communication through thought leadership, active and effective VOC & CRM systems. Other companies in the region have since followed suit.

-Consistent media presence in the local and regional dailies championed by positive media and stakeholder relations.

Worked in the Marketing Department as the Brand Custodian, handling Media & Digital marketing &Advertising for Airtel Kenya and yuMobile brands in line with Airtel Africa bottom line reporting to the Marketing Director.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-End to end business lead for developing and growing product marketing for the yuMobile brand, Airtel Master Brand, Airtel Money, Airtel premier brand as well as the Airtel business brand.

-Lead the creative development, planning and execution of all brand and communication initiatives, meeting operational targets for TOMA, MOUB, bonding, revenues, profitability and increased brand equity.

-To achieve business goals and brand salience by championing all ATL, BTL, TTL and Digital campaigns inline with the overall brand strategy.

-Own and interpret the local brand policy and guidelines as required by Bharti Airtel Group.

Worked in the Corporate Communications office reporting to the GM Communications managing corporate communications across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Sudan.

-Develop GTM strategies & PR plans for new products, partnerships and internal campaigns.

-Interface with all Equity Bank Group teams to optimize associated campaign effectiveness and analyze feedback through  effective CX plans.

-Planning Marketing activities, promotions, events and communication for the Equity Group, branches, departments and subsidiaries
